Amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the Indian Army’s precision strikes on terror camps across the border, several northern airports have been shut until further notice. Airlines, including SpiceJet and IndiGo, have issued advisories alerting passengers to major flight disruptions.

SpiceJet, in a post on social media platform X, announced that operations at key airports — Dharamshala, Leh, Jammu, Srinagar, and Amritsar — have been suspended due to the evolving situation. The airline warned that departures, arrivals, and connecting flights would be affected and urged passengers to verify their flight status before traveling.

“Due to the ongoing situation, airports in parts of northern India, including Dharamshala (DHM), Leh (IXL), Jammu (IXJ), Srinagar (SXR), and Amritsar (ATQ), are closed until further notice,” SpiceJet said. “Passengers are advised to plan their journey accordingly and check flight status.”

IndiGo also issued a similar advisory, informing passengers that flights to and from Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, and Dharamshala are currently disrupted. “Due to changing airspace conditions in the region, our flights… are impacted,” the airline said, adding that operations to and from Bikaner have also been affected.

These flight restrictions come in the wake of “Operation Sindoor” launched by India’s Ministry of Defence. The operation targeted nine terror camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The Ministry emphasized that the strikes were “focused, measured, and non-escalatory,” avoiding any Pakistani military installations.

The cross-border operation was in retaliation for the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali national. The Ministry described the attack as “barbaric,” prompting swift and targeted military action.

Passengers traveling through northern India are advised to stay updated through official airline channels as the situation remains fluid.
